Jonathan Barton is Associate Professor in the Institute of Geography and Associate Researcher of the Centre of Sustainable Urban Development at the Pontificial Catholic University in Santiago de Chile. He is a Geographer (University of Wales) with a Masters degree in Latin American Studies and a PhD in Economic History (University of Liverpool). Research interests are in the fields of sustainability in metropolitan strategic planning, evaluation methodologies for urban and regional sustainability, and FDI impacts on local sustainable development. Recent publications include books on salmon aquaculture in southern Chile (Román et al., eds. 2015), political ecology in Chile (Bustos et al., eds. 2015), Chilean trade with Asia (Rehner et al. 2015) and strategic planning in Santiago de Chile (Barton and Kopfmueller, eds. 2016). Currently, he is on the editorial and advisory boards of the journals: Environmental Policy and Governance, and Asia Pacific Viewpoint.
