William Manuel Mora Penagos
William Manuel Mora Penagos holds a degree in Chemistry and a Master’s degree in Chemistry Education from the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional (UPN), a Specialist degree in Organic Structural Analysis from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, and a PhD in Environmental Education from the University of Seville, Spain.
He is a Full Professor at the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas (UDFJC) and a professor in the Interinstitutional Doctorate in Education (DIE-UD), where he currently coordinates the Science Education area. He is also a professor in the Doctorate in Environment and Sustainable Engineering (DAIS).
His teaching and research focus on the didactics of organic chemistry, pedagogical content knowledge, curriculum development, and the history and epistemology of chemistry. His research also addresses the integration of the environmental dimension into science education, with particular emphasis on socio-environmental issues and environmental justice, curriculum greening in higher education, teacher education, and climate change education.
He is a member of the DIDAQUIM and ALTERNACIENCIAS research groups, both classified in the highest research category (A1) by MinCiencias. He has supervised five doctoral dissertations, two of which received the highest academic distinction, and has published extensively in the fields of science and environmental education.
